Victorian Inspired Garnet Czech Glass Necklace with Ankh Pendant

This is a bold and beautiful piece. Almost Victorian in styling, it features a large Ankh pendant. The necklace is made from faceted, deep garnet red Czech glass with silver tone, black, and hematite accents. Hematite is a natural mineral composed of iron oxide. Very popular in Victorian England, it's seen a resurgence in popularity here in the United States. Hematite has even been found on Mars! This gorgeous mineral has a mirror-like finish but the depth of the color seems limitless. Traditionally, it's believed to help ailments of the blood as well as bring about a calm, and tranquil mental state. Czech glass is world-renowned for it's beauty, depth of color and craftsmanship. The ankh is an Ancient Egyptian symbol of life. It also has connotations of eternal life, and the unbroken cycle of life, death and rebirth.

The necklace is finished with a highly decorative picture-frame toggle clasp.

The rich, deep red of the garnet catches the light and casts a warm glow in bright light, but is dark enough to be subtle and sophisticated for night wear.
